George Rosario

Field Service Engineer

With seven years of experience installing and maintaining Waldner machines, training customers across North America and supporting his colleagues, our equipment expert George enjoys a dynamic and fulfilling role. In this interview, he shares how his problem-solving mindset as a kid sparked his passion for engineering and led him to a career fixing machines—including his beloved old car.

Q: What are your specific duties at WNA?
I have been working on Waldner equipment for about seven years. As a Field Service Engineer, I install and commission Waldner filling and sealing equipment, always with a focus on helping customers achieve result-driven success. My core responsibility is ensuring excellent machine performance and customer satisfaction.

I also handle the replacement of worn or damaged parts, perform preventative maintenance to minimize the risk of unexpected downtime, and carry out detailed Machine Performance Analysis (MPA) evaluations and reports—helping customers get the most out of their equipment. In addition, I’m part of the team that trains operators and maintenance technicians so they can confidently run and maintain their machines.

Q: Where did you work before your current position?
Before joining WNA, I worked at Packaging Technologies & Inspection (PTI)—WNA’s former sister company—in several roles, including Field Service & Project Engineer and Global Technical Service Engineer. For a period of time, my role at PTI also included servicing and installing Waldner equipment.

Q: What made you want to work at WNA?
Definitely the Waldner equipment and the WNA team. It’s very rewarding to work with such exceptional machines while traveling—the job is dynamic, and no two weeks are ever the same.

Q: What is the most exciting part of your job?
For me, it’s the sense of accomplishment after each installation or service. It's rewarding to see the equipment perform successfully and to know the customer is satisfied.

Q: What piece of advice would you give to someone looking to work in this industry?
In this industry, it is important to be detail-oriented and approach each task with precision and efficiency. Confidence is key, but it’s equally important to identify any areas where you may be less experienced and take the time to strengthen those skills. Building a well-rounded skill set is the best way to ensure both success and customer satisfaction.

Q: Do you have any hobbies or guilty pleasures outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with family, traveling and trying new activities. I also like snowboarding, playing video games and working on cars. One car that I’ve owned for about 10 years was completely rebuilt and modified, and I take it to various car shows each year.

Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
As a kid, I considered a few different paths, but I always knew I wanted to go into engineering. Growing up, we approached problems at home with engineering and creative thinking. Whenever something broke or was needed, the first thought wasn’t to buy a new one—it was to figure out how to fix it or make it ourselves. I’ve always enjoyed that process, which led me to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology and eventually brought me to where I am today.

Q: What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
A fire-starter, a knife and music.

Q: What do you hope to achieve in the future with your career?
One of my main goals is to continue learning and improving—both professionally and personally—so I can become better every day and advance in my career. For me, this means consistently delivering better service for our machines and our customers. It also allows me to support the growth of my colleagues, which benefits both our team and WNA.
